Hip-Hop is not something that you do. It is a lifestyle. A philosophy. An ideology. It is a voice for the voiceless. A megaphone for the underdog. It is simultaneously the soundtrack for modern society while being an enduring legacy of a bygone era. Its impact and its influence cannot be overstated.
But for me personally, Hip-Hop was a salve on the wounds of childhood. It filled in the gaps of knowledge left by a father who did the best he could with what little he had to work with. It's what enabled me to forgive that same father after he passed away.
My career is simply me paying homage to the emcees that have come before me and those that are still innovating. From Rakim to R.A. the Rugged Man, from Mos Def to Marlon Craft, I've dedicated my entire life to making music that would make my lyrical idols proud. For your sake, I hope I've succeeded.
